Emotional Intelligence, Social Capital and Quality Education: A Proposed Framework

This paper presents a conceptual framework illustrating the interrelationship among emotional intelligence, social capital, and quality education. Quality education refers to an inclusive and empowering system that fosters the holistic development of students, arming them with life skills and preparing them for future challenges. A review of existing literature reveals that emotional intelligence is a critical component for nurturing well-rounded individuals. It functions as a key catalyst in building social capital-characterized by trust, empathy, and collaborative relationships within educational environments. Social capital, in turn, strengthens the outputs of the education system, thereby contributing to the delivery of quality education. Within the proposed framework, emphasis is placed on enhancing emotional intelligence among both students and teachers. The model delineates pathways through which emotional intelligence can be cultivated, subsequently leading to stronger social bonds and more effective educational and personal outcomes.
