Abstract

The relationship between person organization fit (P-O Fit) and cynicism was studied among law enforcement officials working in northern India. Degree of value compatibility possessed by a law enforcement officer towards their organization's was found to be significant with the perception of cynicism. The operationalization of cynicism being an indifferent or a distant attitude towards work in general and the people with whom one works and also losing one's interest in work. Being, a negative attitude, it exhibits inverse relationship with person organization fit. Although structural equation modeling suggested that human relations value congruence also predicted job cynicism directly, in addition to its effect through field work attitudes. Human relations value compatibility thus appeared as an important ingredient of person-organization fit in law enforcement officials.
