Influence of Employee Behavioral Variables on Teaching Effectiveness Among Engineering College Faculties

It can be said that a faculty has teaching effectiveness when he exhibits behavior and characteristics like teaching ability, professional competence, student evaluation, interpersonal relationship and personality traits. Although avid studies have been conducted worldwide, the same among engineering college faculty still needs more attention. This study seeks to understand the mediating role of Organisational Commitment, Employee Engagement and Organisational Citizenship Behavior between Job Satisfaction and Teaching Effectiveness. Through a structured questionnaire, a survey was conducted among 410 engineering college faculties across four districts of Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh, India. Descriptive statistics and mediator analysis is employed to analyze the data. The results reveal the following:

Employee behavior and characteristics like Job Satisfaction, Organisational Commitment, Employee Engagement, Organisational Citizenship Behavior and Teaching Effectiveness are observed as being above average levels in faculty.

The study finds a positive relationship among all employee behavior and characteristic variables

Organisational Commitment is successful as a mediator between Job Satisfaction and Teaching Effectiveness. Conversely Employee Engagement and Organisation Citizenship Behavior failed to mediate. Findings of the study provided empirical evidence that Organisational Commitment is important mediator between Job Satisfaction and Teaching Effectiveness. Hence in the context of engineering college faculty's behavior of satisfaction and commitment is essential in enhancing teaching effectiveness.
