This paper is devoted to reliability analysis of cable T. V. transmission network, which is one of the examples of multi-state acyclic network (MAN). The most general multi-state acyclic network (MAN) reliability evaluation techniques are based on Universal Generating Function technique (UGF). In this paper MAN consists of number of positions in which multi-state elements (MEs) capable of receiving and /or sending signal are allocated. The MEs are located at each non leaf positions. The number of MEs is not equal to the number of non-leaf positions.
The number of leaf positions that can only receive a signal and a number of intermediate positions containing MEs capable of transmitting the received signals to some other nodes. The signal transmission is possible only along links between the nodes. The system is designed to transmit from the cable T. V. operator’s satellite link to users’ televisions through amplifier units. The user’s televisions are connected by cables, which are the system components. The system is operational if user’s televisions are connected with amplifier units and the cable T.V. operator’s satellite link.
