Abstract

Various chemicals were evaluated as post harvest dip for removing sooty blotch and flyspeck disease symptoms from infected apple cv. ‘Red Delicious’ fruits. Amongst the chemicals tested, calcium hypochlorite @ 5.0% and sodium hypochlorite + sodium bicarbonate (@ 3.0+1.0%) proved most effective treatments which completely removed disease complex compared to 65.74 and 76.85% disease intensity recorded in check I (water dip) and check II (no dip), respectively. Among coatings, Wax-Shool coated fruits proved superior to Virosil-Agro and non coated fruits.
