Abstract

The role of education and particularly education on Science and Mathematics is very important for development of Human Society. In every sense it is one of the fundamental factors of development. Every child whoever he/she maybe, have the right to acquire quality education so that he/she can have better chances in life including employment opportunities and better health care. But it has been observed that the Muslims are the lowest educated section among all religious communities in India. In this regard Muslim women are in most dis advantageous position. In the present scenario the backwardness among the Muslim women compared to the other women is very obvious. In this paper, a comparative study about educational development among Muslim women with respect to total women population in India has been attempted. The work is done on the basis of data obtained from Census India (2001 & 2011), U-DISE Flash Statistics 2015–16 and AISHE Final Report 2015–16. The data obtained are analyzed and the actual educational levels of women of different communities are calculated. The objective of this paper is to understand the educational status of Muslim women in India and also to find the reasons behind the backwardness through literature survey.
