Abstract

Government have successfully implemented many schemes to better educational standards and reducing dropout. However, all of them have diverse results. The present study has focused on the performance of Mid-day meals Scheme in Karnataka. Paper has tried to address the problems, aspirations, implementation and operation aspects and expenditure of the Mid-day meals Scheme. Children studying in class 1st to 10th standard in all 30 districts and 177 revenue blocks of this state in government and government aided Schools are covered. Compound growth rate has been used to analyse this said objectives. It is found that Mid-day meals programme is associated with a better education and nutritional status of schoolchildren in Karnataka.
