Gender equality and women's empowerment are two sides of the same coin and are inter-related to each other as both have multiple dimensions that together yield a wide variety of indicators. This article provides the information on progress and situations existing in the world regarding the twin goals of gender equality and women's empowerment. The two concepts of women's empowerment and gender equality are included into of the Millennium Development Goals as they are directly or indirectly recognized as one of the important factors promoting the developing of a nation and the entire world.
