Abstract

Normally the images contain some spatial regions which are more important than other regions. There different compression techniques which are capable of delivering higher reconstruction quality for the important parts. In this paper we compare the effect of loss-less block based compression, lossy block based compression applied on images individually and both of this techniques applied together, specific to the region, based on the quality to be maintained in that region.
