With software controlling many of the Real-time Systems in use, Software Engineering has become an integral part of our day-to-day lives. Due to the instability of software systems produced over a period of time unlike other systems, it has become essential to research upon and ascertain the stability of software systems. Though theoretically there is no deterioration expected for a software product, it does owing to changes in software which involves re-engineering of the changed code. The re-engineering of the software product is not essential for small changes that would have been made in the code of the software modules. We have taken into consideration the various aspects such as analysis, design, development and generic physical control system analysis methods and have provided an insight to analyse the controllability and observability of software systems making use of the Software Stability Model (SSM), essentially by defining the Enduring Business Themes (EBTs), Business Objects (BOs) and Industrial Objects (IOs). Case studies of Real Time Systems have been considered for analyzing our methodology to ascertain the stability of the control software used in such Real Time Systems. Identifying the design pattern for a domain using Software Stability Model (SSM) helps one make apply the design pattern for a different application/problem in the same domain. This has been demonstrated through the design pattern for Transaction Processing (TP) System. This paper essentially integrates the Control theory with Transaction based computing systems and Software Engineering.
