Abstract

With the expansion of business houses it has become extremely difficult to manage business data at a central location. The advent of cheaper resources and fast technologies has steered many users for opting de facto decentralization of centralized data warehouses. The distributed data warehouse systems were opted by the users which were dissatisfied from the centralized data warehouse systems. The literature available either tends to describe the architecture, case-studies, or present survey data about the popularity of the various data warehouse architecture options. There is hardly any empirical research undertaken on distributed data warehouse architecture this has motivated the authors to investigate the scope of the proposed data share house architecture against the various various distributed adta warehouse architectures available. The proposed data sharehouse architecture is capable of handling some key issues which are still unattended in the distributed data warehouse environment. The optimal query performance of data sharehouse has also been analyzed empirically with the help of a prototype.
