This paper is based on the fact that drug addiction can be treated as a medical disease and not as a psychological one.
We are stating that in drug addicts, the pathways to their pleasure centres in the brain, are blocked or broken, which renders them incapable of feeling pleasure and joy in ways similar to normal humans.
Hence they are forced to succumb to the lure of artificial sources of pleasure.
To identify the defect in the pleasure pathway of a patient. To pinpoint the exact location of defective pleasure centre(s) for placement of the electrodes. To stimulate the pleasure centre to remove (to the maximum extent possible) the urge of the patient to look for artificial means of stimulation.
