Aspects of Information Literacy Mastery and Deployment of Library Resources among Library and Information Science Undergraduates in Delta and Edo States, Nigeria

The study investigated the impact of aspects of information literacy mastery and deployment of library resources among library and information science undergraduates in Delta and Edo States, Nigeria. This article explored the forms of information literacy and the degree of information deployment among library and information science undergraduates.Feedback across 100400 level undergraduates library and information science (LIS) in the territories of Delta and Edo were taken using a self-created open-ended questionnaire. The study's results indicated that Delta and Edo state undergraduates majoring LIS make minimal deployment of information sources. Among the abilities in information literacy (IL) that undergraduates possess are media information fluency, business information mastery, health information mastery, and political information mstery.The findings led to the conclusion that one of the most crucial prerequisites for the effective accessibility and utilization of library services in the near future is information mastery competencies in multiple dimensions. This is due to the expansion of IR in the digital era, which is continuing to increase and influence library and information services. It was suggested that to better prepare incoming LIS undergraduates for deployingIR, the university administration should collaborate with the library school.
