Abstract

The progress of a nation and the welfare of its citizens hinge significantly on the quality of education provided to them, making it a cornerstone of nation-building efforts. Adaptability is crucial for advancement; thus, continuous updates and integration of contemporary and forward-looking subjects, methodologies, and teaching practices are essential to foster engaging, efficient, and meaningful learning experiences. The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), introduced by the Government of India on July 29, 2020, seeks to revolutionize the Indian education landscape by prioritizing comprehensive, interdisciplinary education, fostering research and innovation, and integrating technology into the educational journey. This study endeavors to gauge the awareness of NEP 2020 among educators and students in colleges, as well as to explore the ramifications of its implementation. A survey conducted for higher education institutes, encompassing responses from 136 participants, serves as the basis for analysis in this paper. The findings shed light on both the deficiencies and strengths of the existing education system and the core tenets of NEP 2020.
