Emerged as a hub for illicit activities and cybercrime globally, with India witnessing a notable increase in its use. This research paper explores how the dark web has become a modern catalyst for a range of criminal activities in India, including cyber fraud, drug trafficking, providing personal data, availability of assassinators, human trafficking, and the sale of other illegal goods and services.This research study looks into how the dark web's anonymity helps hackers carry out their operations and avoid detection by law enforcement agencies while taking advantage of weak digital infrastructure or technologies. It also analyzes how organized crime, and the dark web connect and prove as catalysts for illegal activities. Researchers also emphasize how the latter helps to support sophisticated or white-collar criminal networks all around the nation. This research paper also explores some difficulties as challenges for Indian law enforcement agencies. To encounter in combating these crimes driven by the dark web and the new laws that are being developed to try to stop them. This paper highlights the critical need for improved cyber surveillance, international cooperation, and stricter cybercrime legislation to lessen the growing threat posed by this digital underworld by providing insights into the socio-economic and legal implications of the dark web in India.
