Gemba Walk: An Essential Component for Vardhman Textile Components Limited

The case is about a medium enterprise which is in Ludhiana (Punjab, India). The company isinto the manufacturing of corrugated boxes. The company is staffed with a workforce of around 100 employees and has reached manufacturing 1200 tonnes of corrugated boxes per month. The present study talks about the way the father-son duo has managed the company which is one of the modern corrugated box manufacturing facilities in Punjab. Many students aspire to start their business, may be at smaller scale initially. The case study tries to talk about different management concepts like gemba walk, leadership, organisational culture, and HR systems which can give insights to students, academicians and industry professionals. It also presents the company’s challenges and the plans. The case study can be used for classroom discussion that can further enhance the understanding about the relevance of such concepts in the practical world.
