The Human Development Index is a comparative measurement of life expectancy, literacy, education, and standards of living of a country. It is a standard means of measuring well-being, especially of child welfare. The present study is an attempt to bring out the inter district disparities in terms of human development in West Bengal. The result shows that five districts are in developed category and rest of the thirteen districts are either in the moderate or less developed category.
