Abstract

The depth and the extent of India's long-lasting treasure of material riches and spirituality cannot be overemphasised. India since the beginning of her civilizational existence has been the most peace loving nation. Mark Twain called her the cradle of human race; the birthplace of history; and the mother source of spirituality, legends and traditions. The power of humanity emanates from the bowl of rice and dough of flour and least from the barrel of a gun. This philosophy made India in the prehistoric era a power-house of producing consumer goods for the entire world. The merchant ships carried India's soft power to all important ports and on return brought gold and silver as the receiving countries had nothing else in offer for exchange. At that time, India was called " the sink of the world's bullion. "A heap of gold had emerged almost in all homes and stacked like play things. Among western greedy nations the British people are most responsible in impoverishing India almost completely in their reign of 200 years. The entire gold of India until 19th century had filled British coffers in London. In spriritual domain India has been and is still the teacher to all nations. The first invader from the West Alexander was curious to know about the number of mothers Indians have as they were found to adore even the land as their mother.
