Abstract

This study was an attempt to find out what visually impaired students think of themselves and what adjustment required from them to gain mastery over difficult & challenging situations, i.e. to study their behaviour that motivates them to excel over others in performance. The present research was designed to study self-concept & adjustment of visually challenged & sighted Adolescent students on random basis. S e If-concept rating scale by Dr. P. Pratibha Deo & Adjustment inventory by Dr. O.J. Ojha were used as measuring instrument. Mean, S.D. & t-test techniques were employed to find significant difference between variables. It was found that majority of the student had above average self-concept and adjustment respectively. The sample consisted ofl 00 visually challenged and 100 sighted adolescent male and female students. It was found on the basis of this study that normal adolescent students are better adjusted than visually challenged adolescent on the basis of mean as the adjustment inventory is negative one, but there is no significant difference in their adjustment.
