In the contemporary world, disaster management has been an important function and issue in global governance. Disaster is a global problem as well as regional problem. For any country, it is a shock and disrupts basic developmental activities of the country. As South Asian region is highly vulnerable to various disasters than the other parts of the world need regional cooperation to cope with those events. A devastating disaster in the region means huge economic and social looses for India as well as for its neighboring countries. So, regional cooperation and coordination among SAARC affiliated countries must be the foremost priorities in the 21st century. In recent, it is found that India showing greater interest and commitment towards increasing cooperation among SAARC members country in tackling disaster. As of now disaster and its management has been an emerging issue in Indian foreign policy.
