Abstract

The present study describes the comparison of OPAC use in libraries of Maharishi Dayanand, Rohtak and Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. In this study, survey approach was used in which 250 questionnaires were administered among postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members of both the universities for collecting the data, which reveal that the maximum number of users (95.2%) in both the university libraries was aware of OPAC services. In MDU, 68.10% of the users learnt the use of OPAC through orientation or training program, while only 47.32% of the users in KUK learnt OPAC use by making self-efforts though the purpose of the users in both the universities was similar and title approach was their most favorable searching method. Majority of the users (85.71%) in both the universities faced the problem of library staff unavailability near the OPAC terminals.
