Abstract

Ambedkar was one of the chief thinker of “Subaltern Perspective” and also the chairman of drafting committee of the constitution. The term “Subaltern” literally refers the view from the bottom of society which means those people who were the downtrodden of the society like Dalit's, women, tribes etc. Ambedkar broke down the hurdle in the way of emancipation of women by making concrete and sincere effort for the reform of Hindu law in the form of Hindu code bill. As chairman of drafting committee of constitution gave different articles for equality and the protection of women rights. He spends his life for the betterment of women even that of prostitute. Ambedkar created awareness among poor, illiterate women and inspired them to fight against the unjust in human practices like child marriages and devdasi system. He believed in the strength of women and their role in movements for Reform. He wanted women to lead their own movement for emancipation. He provided a powerful source of inspiration to Indian women by formulating such reforms of Hinduism which would be free from gender bias.
