Abstract

The paper looks upon how Birbhum as a place is an authentic platform of art and cultural organization. Culture may be based in a peripheral area, but is reformulated by cultural centers for distribution into the global culture, and such an example is Birbhum where artisans, intellectuals, writers, musicians and philosophers have set a niche for themselves.
