Schmallenberg disease, an ectoparasite borne disease, is one of the most important emerging disease that discovered recently and was first reported in Germany in 2011. The disease affects animal industries through causing many clinical signs ranging from reduce milk production, weight loss to abortion and death of newborn animal. To our knowledge this is considered the first preliminary study on the presence of circulating Schmallenberg virus in Iraqi Kurdistan.
