Abstract

Trusteeship-“An Individual or organization which holds or manages and invests assets for the benefit of another", is a socio-economic philosophy that was first propounded by Mahatma Gandhi. The trustee is legally obliged to make all trust-related decision in the beneficiary's interests. In other words, trusteeship is a supervisory control by one or more people over a downtrodden people. This trusteeship formed a central theme of Gandhi's economic ideas as a part of his general fight against poverty, and exploitation of weaker section of society.
