Abstract

Science encompasses many disciplines. Biodiversity, on the other hand, refers to all forms of life and its interaction with the environment. There is contradicting evidence that the concept of biodiversity needs to be reassessed. This is because the science disciplines are interrelated. However, as much as the concept of biodiversity is known, some effort could be placed on classification schemes using systematics. This paper addresses whether we need to reassess our concept of biodiversity in the context of the proposed decolonisation of science.
