Langston Hughes is a pioneer poet who used his pen for his black race. He raised his voice against black segregation throughout his life. He urges black masses to break away the silence set for them by their white masters. Hughes believes that blacks are beautiful and there is no need for shame and inferiority in their existence in a whitedominated society. He frequently challenges discrimination against them and brings a ray of hope to African Americans through his writings and speeches. Hughes creates a dream-world for his brethren and feels that the day is not far off when the black will realize their dreams in America itself.
