Abstract

Orthodox seeds are those that are quiescent, because they undergo maturation drying and are tolerant to changes in water concentration. However, in order for them to grow in the environment, they need to be shed at optimum vigour and viability. Furthermore, seed storage parameters for orthodox seeds need to be optimum, so they are metabolically active, and doesn’t accumulate damage, upon shedding. This article is about orthodox seed behaviour.
