Scientific approach in material selection is necessary for proper evaluation of the clinical findings is a perquisite for any restoration. There is a lot of confusion regarding the type of finish line to be prepared while planning a restoration. We should have a method or classification which can give us an idea about the finish line to be selected. Keeping this in mind,the new classification is planned. This new classification guides regarding the type of finish line to be used. This will definitely help the operator to select the finish line depending on the material used.
