The wide gap between average use and attainable level of the crucial farm inputs such as plant protection measures, fertilizer application, irrigation etc. has resulted into substantial yield gap between average and attainable potential yield of the crops in Faridabad district of Haryana. Nearly 14 to 47 per cent increase in working capital yielded 35 to 92 per cent increment in farm income under subsequent optimal plans indicating tremendous scope to raise the farm income on all sizes of the farms in both resource-poor and resource-rich situations. The scope of increasing earnings through commercialization of crop production was remarkably high in all the sizes of farms but was more favourable to the small and marginal farmers in particular. The alternative crop production plans, suggested for resource-poor and progressive farms, predicted 17 to 114 per cent more annual labour employment in the area.
