Rice is grown under diverse agro-ecological situations in Orissa. The yield growth in rice was not impressive up to 1980s and has started picking up after that. Using micro-level data, this paper examines the factors behind the yield increase in Orissa in recent years and suggests policy measures to boost rice productivity in the state.
