The comparative economics of organic and inorganic farming has been studied in the Akola district of Maharashtra by selecting four crops, viz. cotton (including tur and mung) and wheat. Data have been collected from 25 organic and 25 inorganic farmers. Simple tabular analysis has been used for the study. It has been concluded that organic cotton as well as organic wheat are more profitable than their inorganic productions. In addition to these monetary gains, there are other benefits of organic farming i.e. it reduces environmental degradation, it increases soil texture which ultimately results in increasing productivity.
