Abstract

The economics of tur dal processing has been studied based on the data collected from five dal mills in the Akola district of Maharashtra for the year 2007–08. The study has revealed that cost on value addition in tur was Rs 399/q which was about 19.0 per cent of cost of raw material. The break-even volume and B-C ratio for tur dal have been found to be 1262 quintals per unit and 1.17, respectively. Thus, tur processing has been found to be a profitable venture.
