This study has captured the dynamics of tea exports from India and has identified the determinants of tea exports from India. The study has revealed that tea export from India is facing a gradual decline and is losing its competitive advantage gradually. It has been found that during the liberalization period, the real value and real price of tea exports from India were declining. The transition probability matrix has shown that UK is the only country which has been the consistent importer of Indian tea. Measures such as value-addition, developing brand image on geographical indication, better packaging and improving the productivity through technological improvement and extension services have been suggested as the measures to augment tea export from India.
