Abstract

This study conducted in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh during the year 2007 has determined the components of entrepreneurial behaviour of dairy farmers using principal component factor analysis. The findings have revealed that achievement motivation (0.782), self-confidence (0.782), management orientation (0.744), leadership ability (0.559) and farm decision-making (0.525) have higher factor loading to influence the entrepreneurial behaviour of dairy farmers. Second level of influential variables are innovativeness (0.665) and knowledge of dairy farming (0.569). The study has identified the most important factors as management orientation, farm decision-making, leadership ability, achievement motivation and self-confidence, which have factor loadings. These factors could be taken care of by the programme implementing agencies to increase the farmer's participation in their respective programmes for better results.
