The present study, conducted in the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, has examined the constraints being faced by producer-sellers in the marketing of following traditional crops: finger millet, barnyard millet, black soyabean and horse gram. Using the Garrets ranking technique, the constraints identified area: non-availability of any market or market agency in the nearby areas, in-sufficient quantity of crops for sale at distance places, high transportation cost, exchange of produce with fellow villagers, purchase by consumers/other groups at low price from farmers, lack of market-price information, and non-availability of co-operative societies. The study has suggested organization of co-operative marketing for these traditional crops to fetch a better price. To tap this vast potential of the area, these crops should be grown on commercial basis by developing efficient infrastructural support so as to maximize the returns to the growers of this area.
