Agricultural Services Delivery System for Accelerating Growth and Improving Farm Income in Meghalaya

The paper has outlined various agricultural services being provided to the farmers of Meghalaya by the Department of Agriculture (Meghalaya) through its farms and nurseries, farmers training centres, research stations cum laboratories, soil testing laboratories, seed testing laboratories, marketing wing, Agmark laboratory, weather stations, horticultural hubs and fruit processing units. By presenting data on production of maize and arecanut in Meghalaya from 1999–00 to 2008–09, the paper has inferred that because of the improvement in agricultural services delivery system, these crops have shown an increasing trend in production in the state.
