Organic farming has significant potential to contribute to food security by improving intake of nutrition and sustaining livelihoods in the rural areas, while simultaneously reducing vulnerability to climate change and enhancing biodiversity. This paper has studied the contribution of organic agriculture to food security and has suggested the dissemation of organic farming across the country. It has inferred that organic agriculture can ensure maintenance of soil health, protection of environment and sustaining of crop productivity. Further, organic agriculture in lines with the traditional Indian agro-system, not only maintains ecological balance but also ensures sustainability in terms of food production and safeguarding of human health.
