The economic feasibility of the rooftop rainwater harvesting has been studied with a greenhouse under three systems: (i) greenhouse with groundwater pumping system, (ii) greenhouse with rooftop rainwater harvesting system with pumping unit, and (iii) greenhouse with rooftop rainwater harvesting system with gravity irrigation. The benefit-cost ratios have been found to be 1.04, 1.71 and 2.71 for systems (i), (ii) and (iii), respectively. It shows that type (iii) system is most feasible and viable. The B-C ratio in type (iii) system is highest because there is no need of drilling a borewell and installation of an electric motor and pumps. The water harvested can be used for 4 crops. Due to availability of additional water, a farmer can take at least 3 crops worth 46845 after deducting the production cost of 4500/crop of capsicum.
