Abstract

The study has reported the impact of watershed development on agriculture by comparing before and after situation in Kadwanch watershed area. A substantial increase in area and production has been noticed in chickpea, wheat, cotton and green gram. Due to water availability, ginger has been observed as a new crop in this area. The area under fruit crops has also increased and overall additional employment has been generated. Consequently, the per capita income has increased in the study area. The study has observed that the present provisions of 1200/ha are not sufficient to meet the development cost and these be raised to 25000/ha for integrated watershed development.
