The study has analysed variations in physical input-use under organic and inorganic farming across different size-categories of farmers, viz. marginal, small, medium and large in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. For the study, 200 farmers were selected, 100 practising organic and 100 practising inorganic farming in the selected area and the data were collected during July, 2013 to June, 2014. The farmers were found practising organic farming by using various organic inputs like farmyard manure, natural panchagavya, amirtha karaisal, neem cake, neem oil, green manure and vermi-compost. Under inorganic farming, the farmers were using chemical-based inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, potash, urea, insecticides, etc. which attract more cost for cultivation. Considering the merits of organic farming, the government should disseminate its adoption on a large scale.
