Abstract

This study has looked into the factors that influence enrolment as members of Karnataka Cooperative Oilseed Growers Federation Limited (KOF) by selecting top three OGCS from Raichur Regional Union (RRU) based on highest volume of business. The primary data were collected from 45 members of selected OGCS and also from 45 non-members for a comparison and were analyzed with the help of statistical measures such as simple ranking and Garret's analysis. The study has revealed that the majority of respondents were enrolled as members of the Society with the hope of reducing market risk (mean score 57.82) and there was no commission charge (mean score 53.31). Further, the majority of non-member respondents had not registered for membership due to non-availability of credit from the society (mean score 55.77), followed by personal relations with commission agents for years (mean score 54.31) and indebtedness to commission agents (51.71). Hence, the Society should put efforts towards improvement of the mentioned issue.
