This paper has examined the impact of a community seed bank on production of groundnut and on improving the livelihood of groundnut growers in the Raichur district of Karnataka. The study has analysed data on area, production and productivity of groundnut from 1970–71 to 2011–12 and also for the demand and supply of seeds for the period 2001–02 to 2011–12. Considering the actual SRR, not much gap has been found between demand for and supply of seeds, but the existing cultivars need to be replaced with quality seeds of improved varieties for enhancing productivity and production of groundnut. The interventions introduced in terms of quality seed ICGV-00350, seed treatment with rhizobium and trichoderma, maintenance of seed purity and buyback arrangement extended to the members of GSGA have increased the yield and income of groundnut growers. The members of GSGA can get information on market price through a website and can take appropriate decision on marketing. The study has suggested some policy implications for enhancing productivity of groundnut.
