The study has looked into the profitability, export potential and constraints of organic coconut in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu by collecting data from 30 certified organic farmers and 30 inorganic farmers of coconut in the district. The net returns from organic coconut have been found higher ( 178170/ha) than from inorganic coconut ( 130627/ha) farming. Based on the price of tender coconut in the country (Coimbatore) and in six overseas countries, the study has projected the export potential of organic coconut to be high. The constraints faced by organic coconut farmers included lack of price fixing mechanism for organic produce, non-availability of labour, and distant markets.
