This study has analyzed the rainfall (1975–2007) and temperature data (1975–2009) retrieved from daily gridded IMD dataset for Mizoram. To estimate the impact of climatic factors on mean and variability of yield, Just and Pope Model has been used. To supplement this, primary data were collected from 120 farm households of Lunglei district of Mizoram. The study has revealed that the temperature has increased during 1990–2009 and rainfall has exhibited a declining and significant trend during this period. The farmers’ have also perceived the same. They reported about increased pest and disease infestation and decline in crop productivity during the drought periods. The water availability for irrigation as well drinking purpose has reduced. The empirical model has also substantiated the negative effect of climate change on mean and variability of yield of rice and maize. The study has concluded that change in climatic factors and its impact on farm and farming community are very clear in Mizoram, hence, implementation of a planned strategy is need of the hour.
