Abstract

This study conduced in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, has found operational area, farm investment, cost and return and input-output relationship of groundnut production on different farm-size groups based on secondary data collected from published sources, and primary data collected from 100 farmers selected randomly from 5 villages in each farm-size proportionately. The study has revealed that the average farm-size was 0.94 ha and per farm investment increased with farm-size. However, per hectare investment on fixed capital decreased with increase in farm-size. The overall average input-output ratio has been worked out to be 1:1.73. The study has also revealed that cost of cultivation, gross returns and net returns were highest on marginal farms due to heavy investment on fixed and variable costs.
