This paper has studied the apple value chain in the state of Jammu & Kashmir with a view to enhancing farmers’ income. The study has used both primary and secondary data for the Baramulla district of Kashmir valley and was conducted during 2014–15. The paper has reported production and demand estimates of apple and returns from apple orchards of the study area. The seasonal outflow and wholesale price behaviour of apple has been studied along with role of apple processing in the state and its contribution to farmers’ income. The study has suggested re-engineering of cold and supply chain for enhancing better returns to the farmers.
