This study has examined the economics of farm viability in terms of cost, returns and profitability of small farmers in central Vidarbha zone and has identified the factors affecting their economic viability by collecting data study was conducted in the Central Vidarbha Zone of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, for the year 2014–15 from 40 small farmers. Tabular analysis and linear discriminant function were used to know the relative importance of different variables. The study has found that small farmers thrive because they cultivate more than one crop in a year due to better irrigation facilities. The farm business income has been found better in Western Vidarbha zone concerning to crop production. In small category of Central Vidarbha Zone, nine farmers have been found viable.
