The study has identified constraints in production and post-harvest management of pineapple in Manipur. For study 150 pineapple growers were selected from four villages, viz. Bunglon and Khousabung of Churachandpur district and Waithou Chiru and Angtha of Imphal East and data were collected using pre-tested structured schedule method. The constraints in production of pineapple included infestation of disease/insect/pest, poor resources, lack of micronutrients in soil, non-availability of improved varieties, lack of technical knowledge and recommended package of practices. In post-harvest management, the constraints reported included lack of processing industries, storage facilities and regulated and co-operative market. The addressal of these constraints can increase production and consequently, farmers’ income. The government has launched various schemes to increase production of fruits and improve the marketing system. It is hoped that these schemes will help increase income of pineapple growers in Manipur.
