This paper has looked into the extent and nature of inter-district disparities in labour productivity levels on the basis of selected agricultural crops in Rajasthan. The analysis is based on the secondary data collected from various published sources for the triennia 1990–93, 2000–03 and 2011–14. Along with finding inter-district disparities in labour productivity, the paper has also identified reasons for the disparities. The inter-regional disparities of agricultural productivity have also been statistically tested by regression analysis. The selected inputs regarded important in determining the reasons for regional differences are: total cropped area, percentage of area under HYV seeds, fertilizer consumption (NPK), percentage of irrigated area under selected crops, rainfall in mm, rural literacy in percentage terms, cropping intensity and number of agricultural workers. The role of irrigation and area under HYV seeds have been found to be quite vital in determining the level of agricultural development of the districts.
